Designing a Squeeze Page for Maximum Results

Designing a Squeeze Page for Maximum Results

When it comes to online business there's nothing more important than capturing and acquiring as manly targeted leads for your business as possible. The use of squeeze pages is the most common and the most effective medium for capturing leads or subscribers. In this article I'm going to be talking about how design can affect your squeeze pages' chances of bringing in new business and the fine art of designing a squeeze page that promotes the highest conversion rates.

First and foremost, we must begin by identifying the key aspects of the anatomy of a squeeze page. These are layout, copy and design. These three elements play an equally important role in achieving greater prospect-to-lead ratios.

The layout of your lead capture page should be clean and simple. There are two major layouts being used for squeeze pages today. These are; landscape layouts and portrait layouts.

Landscape layouts adopt a design that contain all of the squeeze page's content above the fold of the page so the visitor is unable to scroll down any further.

The second layout, the portrait layout, is the opposite of the landscape layout and adopts a similar style to your typical sales letter whereby the visitor has to keep scrolling to absorb your information.

I have found through my experience that the landscape layout works best because the visitor's eyes are captured straight away and they don't have to take that mental effort of scrolling down the page to read more of your offer. Remember, you want to make this as easy on your visitors as possible.

Next up we have the squeeze page copy.

The copy on your squeeze page should, as always, be enticing, doused in benefits and use compelling, action-taking language. When it comes to squeeze pages you want to use as much copy as to briefly but powerfully explain your benefits. Too much copy will deter your visitors, remember, after they've hit that 'subscribe' button you can ramble on as much as you want.

There are six main areas of squeeze page copy that you should really focus on. These are; the headline, the opening paragraph, 5 - 10 dotpoint benefits, closing (action taking) paragraph, the copy on your signup form and finally the privacy notice at the bottom which assures your visitors that their information is safe.

Keep your copy as short and powerful as possible, giving just enough information for forcing your subscribers to crave more.

The last element is the design of your lead capture page. As always, the design should be professional, clean and simple. A good squeeze page design brings attention to the more important areas of the content such as the headline and signup form, but also, it attempts to build a brand at the same time - so if your visitor does subscribe they will remember future offers you send them.

Your design should consist of a maximum of three colours. The colours you choose will depend on the niche you're targeting but keep in mind that the combination of reds, black and white are perfect for creating urgency.

That just about sums up this article on squeeze page design. So remember the three elements when you design your next lead capture page. Layout, Copy and Design.
